etudiant gets CRITIQUED for exoticism
true stories of the critical curatorial cybermedia
how does one make a piece of art work
related to asian culture without the
critique of exoticism or orientalism?
my retort :
it is an interesting critical point in which my work will be look at,
its a shame that in the result of finding my own personal identity
i am merely critiqued in this eye. i refuse to be judged as a such,
i work by affinity and instinct, i work as a typographer, i work as
a historian, i work as myself - an american born philippine, a
product of immigrational dreams, a hybrid of tradegy, adversity,
a woman, a man, a human, a painter working in the age of the
internet and technology, need i say more? well, of course i
could say more. i am a cyborg an undefined chimera.
currently i announce that my work is not related to orientalism
because i am oriental and that this is no longer the18th or 20th
century. however, i do agree that the work does not communicate
everything in which i would like to express. again i state that it is
an on-going project, this is only the beginning, now back to
researching orientalism . . . . .
